It's Almost Cinco de Mayo!

Are you ready to taco bout it?!

If Cinco de Mayo is nacho thing, move along. But if you want to learn more about one of our favorite days, read on.

We did our research and found the following fun facts surrounding Cinco de Mayo:

  • Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day-that falls on September 16.
  • Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla.
  • In the early 1960s, many Mexican-American activists entrenched in the country’s growing civil rights movement used the day as a source of pride.

Now that we're all educated, let's focus on the main event: HOW TO CELEBRATE?!

There is no right or wrong way to celebrate any holiday, really and Cinco de Mayo is no different. Grab some food and friends! It's just that easy! But if you'd like to be a bit more of a traditionalist, you can try your hand at cooking up the official holiday meal:  mole poblano, which originated in Puebla and has been passed down for generations.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Enjoy!
